Sometimes it just takes a simple adjustment to turn an average photo into one worthy of a place over the mantle. And, you don’t always need to launch Photoshop to get great results. Lightroom, a Photoshop companion program, can handle many exposure and color adjustments quickly and easily, and often with just one or two clicks of the mouse.
For instance, the images below could have been adjusted in Photoshop or Elements, or even Picasa, but it would have required color adjustments, exposure adjustments and some cropping. However, when I tried the adjustments in Lightroom first, it was just a click for cropping, and a click for a preset and I was ready to render them.
The first image is the unadjusted one fresh out of the camera. The second one was adjusted for contrast and color saturation and the third one was converted to black and white with strong contrast. Which one would you want to frame and hang on the wall? I’m betting the first one is your last choice.
